Deen Dayal Jan Awas Yojana (DDJAY) – Affordable Plotted Housing Policy, 2016
Deen Dayal Jan Awas Yojana (DDJAY) is an affordable plotted housing policy introduced by the Government of Haryana on 8 February 2016 under the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975. The primary objective of this policy is to promote the development of affordable, well-planned residential plotted colonies in low and medium potential towns across the state. The policy encourages private developers to develop integrated residential townships with modern infrastructure, including wide internal roads, parks, open green spaces, commercial areas, and essential community facilities. Under DDJAY, residential plots of up to 150 square metres are permitted with provisions for independent floor registration and stilt parking, offering flexibility to homeowners. The policy also provides simplified licensing norms, waives certain development charges, and mandates the timely completion of projects to ensure quality urban development. By increasing the supply of residential plots through planned colonies, DDJAY aims to make home ownership more affordable, promote sustainable urban growth, and provide citizens with safe, organized, and well-connected residential communities equipped with essential civic amenities.
